“I think I’m starting to love my life”

💬 Question

What’s something about yourself that you used to hate… but now you’re starting to understand differently?

Today, I decided to deal with depression differently.

Stay home.

Write.

As a kid, I never remember thinking:

“I hate this about myself.”

“I hate that about myself.”

I just existed.

Even as an asthmatic kid…

I remember enjoying life.

Doing what I wanted to do.

But growing up…

I slowly started complaining about myself.

My decisions.

My life.

And eventually…

I think I started hating my own existence.

Now?

I think I’m starting to love it.

Starting today.

Not because my life is amazing.

Far from it.

I live in a garage.

I’m in my forties.

To a lot of people…

that makes you a failure.

But in my eyes…

I’ve been trying to rebuild my life after bad decisions.

And I think I finally realized my biggest mistake.

I kept judging old decisions…

with knowledge I only gained later.

That slowly destroyed my confidence.

Made my world smaller and smaller.

Like I kept shrinking the box I allowed myself to exist in.

But I’m human.

I try.

I cry.

I get depressed.

I make mistakes.

And lately…

I’m learning to tell myself:

“It’s okay.”

Because honestly…

I’m happy I exist.

One day I’ll be gone from this earth.

Gone from this avatar named Roberto Sanchez.

And where do we go after that?

Who knows.

So maybe the point is:

Enjoy the ride while you’re here.

You are loved.

Have you ever realized you were being harder on yourself than you would ever be on someone else?
