Come in.
If this is your first time here…
My name is Roberto Sanchez.
I draw. I write. And during the day, I drive around Los Angeles selling plastic bags out of a van.
Yeah…
Plastic bags.
At night, I come back to a converted garage and try to make sense of what I saw, what I remember, and who I’m becoming.
Some of these pieces begin on a delivery route.
Some begin with a drawing, a memory, or a movie I can’t stop thinking about.
But they all come from the same place.
So…
If you want to know me…
I’d start here.

This Is Where I’d Start
Doña Tere made me feel seen during an ordinary day on my delivery route. This is what stayed with me after she was gone.
I walked into a liquor store expecting another difficult conversation. I left with a lesson about trust, business, and character.
Don Orlando made chorizo, built machines, and taught himself almost everything. He was the first man who spoke to me like I had potential.
When the Whole Room Went Black
I was terrified of speaking in front of people. Then I walked onto a stage, everything disappeared, and I learned what honesty could do.
When My Mom Said I Was “Going Purple”
I was the asthmatic kid wrapped in sweaters and scarves, carrying an inhaler through Exposition Park and learning not to be afraid of my own body.
1990 — The Year of MC Hammer and Mutants
MC Hammer, Ninja Turtles, bikes, basketball, and a mutant hiding in an abandoned warehouse. This is how the block felt when I was nine.
The Chair Was Facing the Wrong Way
An old arcade, drawings sold for quarters, and my friend Ivan’s red recliner. One day, the chair was facing a wall.
My brother and I drove through Hollywood talking about purpose, heartbreak, and learning how to feel without falling apart.
La noche que dejé de ser el mismo…
Un espejo, direcciones de MapQuest, Batman Begins y el miedo viajando conmigo hasta mi primera cita.
Street Cinema: The Shining — The Loop’s Favorite Disguise Is Morality
I thought I was watching a horror movie. What I saw was the emotional weather of a house, the loops families inherit, and the kind of man I don’t want to become.
Keep Walking
This isn’t everything.
Honestly…
It’s just where I’d start.
The rest of the garage has more rooms.
Journal is where I sit with the day and try to understand what it left behind.
Hood Chronicles follows the streets, parking lots, markets, liquor stores, and people I meet while moving through Los Angeles.
Street Cinema is where a movie opens a door—and somehow I end up walking into a memory.
Daily Prompt usually begins with a question, a cup of coffee, and no idea where I’m going.
Spanish carries some of these thoughts through the other language that helped shape me.
Echoes of the Garage is the visual room—sketchbooks, illustrations, and the part of me that spoke with a pencil before it learned to speak with words.
There’s no wrong door.
Open whichever one feels familiar.
I’ll be somewhere inside.
☕ Enjoy your cup of coffee.
