šŸŒ™ The Misunderstanding

Prompt: If you met yourself for the very first time today… what would you misunderstand about yourself?

July 31, 2026 – 11:21 p.m.

I’m walking on a cold night.

It’s been a hot…

hot week.

Sizzling.

Now I’m walking through a cold night.

Alone.

Golden light from the streetlights.

I am not a happy person.

I look very happy.

I’m jovial.

I joke.

I’m funny.

I have a lot of personality.

But internally…

I feel dead.

I’m on default.

For the outer world…

and for the inner world…

I am dead.

I think if I met myself as a stranger…

I’d think,

ā€œHe’s a funny guy.ā€

I would misunderstand the whole thing.

I’d think…

That person is really smart.

He has a lot of personality.

He speaks well.

He must have his life together.

God…

I wish I were like him.

I wish I had my life together like him.

I’m in my 40s…

and yet…

I don’t feel like my life is together at all.

He seems peaceful.

Smooth.

Charismatic.

Comfortable in his own skin.

Why can’t I be like that?

The reality is…

I do all of that because I’m trying to give myself hope.

I’m always looking for something…

anything…

that might lead me toward a better life.

I’ve made a lot of bad decisions.

Cleaning up that mess…

well…

it’s not that easy.

But I think that’s what I’d misunderstand the most.

I’d think…

ā€œHe has it together.ā€

And the truth is…

I’m still trying to figure it out.

I’d probably also think…

He seems like he’d be cool to hang out with.

That’s all I’ve got, man.

Enjoy your night…

your day…

your morning…

wherever you are in the world.

And thank you…

for giving enough of a damn to read anything I write.

ā˜• Enjoy your cup of coffee.
