So…
Hello.
Good morning.
Good afternoon.
And good evening.
My stomach is making noises.
I think I might be hungry.
Stomach rumbling…
Rumble, young man, rumble.
Thunder…
Today, happiness seems to be floating around.
Mexico won last night and advanced further than ever in the World Cup.
The crowds in Mexico City celebrating…
Bursts of fireworks.
Flags.
Cheers.
Unity is awesome.
If we could all do this more often…
Not just for one country.
For all of humanity.
We all go through the jungle of life.
Some of us get lost.
Others come through…
Even if we’re a little wounded.
I grew up with asthma.
My father told me that the doctors told them to seek a priest for my last rites because I might not make it.
I was in an incubator.
They were told that a miracle had to happen.
I didn’t know it was that bad.
I was just a boy.
I was constantly being rushed to the emergency room.
“Why am I going to the hospital again?”
“You are turning purple, that’s why, mijo.”
— Mom
Run, young boy.
Run…
My uncle would take me on runs without my parents knowing.
I’d run…
And run…
A puff from my inhaler when I started feeling short of breath.
“Slow down a bit…
But never stop.
You have to strengthen.”
I was going through constant emergency room visits as a child.
But I never knew how real the struggle was.
I was absent of fear.
I was happy.
And I believed…
I just believed.
Maybe…
Ignorance can be a blessing.
So…
God bless.
And for everyone reading this…
God bless you.
