🫧〔🧑‍🚀〕 Explore Again

If I could start a new business…

A platform where we get to know each other through shared creativity. We take turns. We slow down enough. And we build outward from there.

As a boy, I remember learning my times tables almost instantly.

“Good, you’re learning so fast.”

Learning?

I enjoyed memorizing. But growing up, I didn’t think of myself as a bag salesman, a lawyer, a rich person, or a poor person.

I just explored.

Then, somewhere along the way…

You must be this.
You must do that.

“Stop dreaming. Be realistic.”

An old voice.
Carried by us, the vessel.

Somewhere along the way,
he stopped asking what he wanted to explore.

That boy…
I… I still carry him.

What if I begin with something I’d like to explore?

A blank screen.

Blink, blink…

Something fuzzy appears in the upper-right corner. I touch it. Swipe lightly, as if cleaning dust.

It begins to clear.

“Would you like to begin with friendship…
and see how life answers you?”

I become curious.

I leave my house.
Walk outside.
Sit on the curb.

I take a picture with my phone.

The blinking screen holds the image.

“Now, what would you like to do?”

“Hello…”

With my finger, I draw bubbles.

They begin to float.

Then a reply appears.

“Hello. I’m Michelle. Would you like to explore a bit with me?”

“Ahhh… I think I would.”

Another person.
Somewhere outside this home.

Across the country.
Maybe right next door.

She begins to draw a bridge across my photograph. I hear something else play.

Her music and mine merge.

I hear her laughter.

Then:

1 + 1 = 2

The two begins to move.
Bending from side to side like a snake—
yellow, then blue, then red.

I laugh.

For the first time,
the answer refuses to stay still.

Enjoy your cup of coffee. ☕
