☕ Don Orlando Told Me

Friday, November 6, 2026

It’s a solemn day for me.

I don’t know why. There’s no particular reason. At points, I just feel that way. Many of us have days like this.

Outside my studio window, it’s sunny. A splash of sunlight feels good on the skin.

Drinking some homemade coffee…

I used to work for a man named Don Orlando. He told me once, “If you want to keep a friend, never lend money. Instead, invite them to a meal and give them your time.”

A couple of years ago, a woman who worked as a street vendor looked sad.

I asked if she was okay.

She started telling me business had gone down. Half her merchandise had been stolen from storage. One thing after another…

She was about to cry.

Then… I decided to lend her some money.

“So how much would you need to recover a bit?”

“Two thousand.”

She had no clue I was about to lend it to her.

My gut told me, Remember Don Orlando.

But I decided it was okay. She had always been cool with me.

That was in 2024.

Now we’re about to hit 2027, and guess what?

She never answered her phone again. And I can’t find her anymore.

She had always been cool with me.

Well, not cool no more.

Enjoy your cup of coffee. ☕
