🤠 One Day… Us

Writing Prompt

What Have I Never Built?

August 5, 2026 – 10:22 p.m.

I…

I…

I…

I always start with I.

I end as I.

I’d love to say…

Us.

Growing up…

it was my father…

my mother…

and me.

I would always tell my mom,

“I want a brother.”

“I want a sister.”

She just couldn’t get pregnant.

Every time I saw a baby…

I’d want to play with them.

I always dreamed of having a sibling.

It didn’t happen…

until I was sixteen.

Now…

I’m a man in my forties.

And I never imagined I might not even have a family of my own.

I dated.

Life happened.

School happened in my thirties because I decided to pursue an education.

Now…

every once in a while…

I catch myself thinking,

“Damn…”

I hope…

one day…

I get to come home to my own family.

My wife.

My kids.

Some people would probably say I’m crazy for still imagining that.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Time has a funny way of surprising us.

Right now…

I’m sitting here watching a YouTube video of a Western-themed home theater.

Yee-haw.

😂

Enjoy your cup of coffee.

Question

What’s something you still quietly hope for… even if you rarely say it out loud?
