The Version of Me That Watches
Sometimes…
I notice something strange.
There is a part of me…
that watches me think.
It doesn’t interrupt.
It doesn’t judge.
It simply watches.
Tonight…
I decided to ask it one question.
It answered…
July 27, 2026 — 12:42 a.m.
I’m sitting here…
writing again.
Past midnight.
I think I keep coming back because I like to believe this could become something.
For a long time, I kept asking myself…
What is writing going to do for me?
The funny thing is…
I’m not a writer.
At least…
I don’t think of myself that way.
I’m a guy who sells paper bags throughout Los Angeles.
Most days, I’m driving from Liquor store to market.
Sometimes I pull over to the side of the road to write.
Other times, I speak ideas into my phone before they disappear.
Then later…
I write them down on my reMarkable.
A small digital notebook with a Kindle-like screen.
Better for the eyes.
Lately…
I’ve noticed I keep asking myself one question.
Why?
Not to judge myself.
To understand myself.
Why do I keep doing this?
At first…
the answer seemed obvious.
To succeed.
And yes…
that used to be my answer.
Now…
it doesn’t feel accurate anymore.
I think this has become something else.
A place to be creative with words.
A place to explore.
One question at a time.
One writing at a time.
No one here has to label me.
I don’t even have to label myself.
Maybe that’s why I enjoy it.
Because I don’t believe I’m a good writer…
it makes it fun for me.
There’s no pressure.
There’s only curiosity.
I wonder where this thought goes.
That’s enough.
Somewhere along the way…
I stopped trying to force writing into becoming something.
Instead…
I started letting it become whatever it wanted to be.
Maybe…
I’m just becoming that little kid again.
The one who loved to draw.
The one who escaped into his own imagination.
Maybe writing is simply another way of drawing.
Only now…
the pencil is made of words.
Thank you…
to everyone who has taken the time to read the words coming out of my mind.
Most of what I write is stream of consciousness.
Sometimes I wonder if it even makes sense.
If it makes sense to some of you…
thank you.
Enjoy your coffee…
whenever morning happens to find you. ☕

Do you create to become something… or to discover something?
