“A Different Kind of Speed”

Daily writing prompt
What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?

July 11, 2026 – 12:55 p.m.

Not really thinking about writing today.

But…

It helps me.

My furball is in his window.

Blue sky outside.

The vacuum is going full blast to my right.

Oddly enough…

It helps remove the excess noise that constantly bugs me.

I have a couple of deliveries to make today.

I just don’t want to move.

Again.

Last year I went to Cinépolis in Inglewood to watch F1.

I loved that movie far more than I ever thought I would.

Now…

How does that connect to wanting to travel?

Simple.

It made me want to experience Formula 1 in person.

Not just watch it on television.

To see those cars flying by at incredible speeds.

To be somewhere beautiful.

Drink a couple of beers.

Eat some wings.

Watch the race.

Then just…

Enjoy the day.

I know.

Kind of an odd reason to travel.

But sometimes a movie doesn’t just entertain you.

Sometimes it quietly introduces you to a place you’ve never considered visiting.

Good morning.

Good afternoon.

Good evening.

Coffee is done.

Question

Has a movie, book, or song ever made you want to experience a place for yourself? What was it?
