”The Closet”

You wake up tomorrow morning and discover that one ordinary object has been quietly watching your life for the last five years.

June 26, 2026

Sitting in a Plaza parking lot after my Pollo Loco.

Cool shade.

Eyes a bit drowsy.

My studio…

Really, my parents’ garage.

It’s small.

Possibly, it could be an intimate place.

I’m usually watching TV, so my natural instinct would be:

“TV, TV, TV.”

Who’s the most approachable out of them all?

But it’s always who you wouldn’t expect looking at you.

The closet.

White doors with wooden slides.

Something you touch…

Or it touches you.

Every day.

It allows me to come out of the closet daily.

What will I wear today?

As the closet doors slide closed with a light thump…

The closet doors are next to my bed.

No…

It hasn’t missed any kind of action on my bed.

It would vouch for me like a best friend.

“Hey, buddy.

How you doing?”

“What will I wear today?”

“The red shirt plays well with his mocha-toned skin.”

“Ah, good choice.

Don’t forget your money bag.

May you sell more today than every day before today.”

Knock.

Knock.

I think something might be watching me while I sleep.

Enjoy your day.
