“Minimalism Is Personal”

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe in minimalism?

📰 Monday, May 25, 2026 — 7:43 a.m.

I’m scratching my head while my orange cat stares at me from the window.

Coffee just finished brewing.

Minimalism.

I understand it.

At least I think I do.

To me, minimalism is not about owning absolutely nothing.

It’s about removing enough friction from your life so you can flow better through it.

Life is already hard enough.

There are peaks and valleys waiting for you that you can see…

and others you won’t notice until you’re already standing in front of them.

So if certain things help make your daily life smoother, calmer, clearer…

then maybe that matters.

But I also don’t think minimalism fits everybody the same way.

I like movies.

I collect them.

I like shoes too.

I have around twelve pairs even though I only have two feet.

That probably sounds ridiculous to somebody who fully believes in extreme minimalism.

But I enjoy those things.

So for me, maybe the real answer is balance.

Minimalism in certain areas.

Enjoyment in others.

The real minimalism I’m trying to build right now is mental.

Simple systems.

Simple routines.

Preparing coffee the night before.

Organizing the day into small achievable checkpoints.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

Next thing.

Adjust as needed.

Keep moving.

Maybe minimalism isn’t really about owning less.

Maybe it’s about creating less resistance between you and your ability to live clearly.

At least that’s what it feels like this morning.
