2015 to 2016.
I was working valet at a clinic in Beverly Hills.
My view every day?
An alley.
On my lunch break, I’d walk to CVS.
Cheetos.
Iced tea.
LA Times.
Same routine.
Across the street was a luxury car dealership.
Inside…
a McLaren.
I had seen that car years before and thought:
“Man… one day.”
Then I looked away from the car…
and saw my reflection.
Overweight.
Valet uniform.
Newspaper in my hand.
That’s when it hit me.
I hadn’t done anything with my life.
I felt like a bum.
I couldn’t even put gas in my car when I got that job.
My mom gave me the money.
But she gave me something else too.
She never let me quit.
She would tell me:
Go back to school.
You can do better.
You’re an artist.
No judgment.
Just belief.
Even when I didn’t believe it myself.
Looking back…
that matters more than anything.
Because if you have one person in your corner—
just one—
that’s enough to start something inside you.
