“20 Minutes Here, 30 Minutes There”

Daily writing prompt
The most important invention in your lifetime is…

The most important invention in my lifetime? Video games.

They do a lot at once: entertainment, distraction, problem-solving, relaxation, even thought-provoking stories. They can pull you into creativity, or give your mind a reset when life feels heavy. And now they’re not just consoles in the house—they’re portable. You can play high-end games 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there.

I’ve got a Steam Deck. I don’t play it every day, but when I do, it’s usually like this: I park, take a breather, and run NBA 2K26—not even full games. Just practice mode. I’ll load up a gym and shoot around like I’m an NBA player, working on moves, getting the reps in.

And it’s funny… it relaxes me.

Thirty minutes of dribble, shoot, reset—then I’m good.

Question: What game (or hobby) gives your brain a real reset?
