Eyes are a bit sore.
I’ve been sleeping late almost every night.
Midnight…
sometimes one in the morning.
My mind keeps running through grief, sadness, depression, desire, and wanting to do better in life.
A whole collection of thoughts.
Like many of us.
Sometimes they steal the time that was supposed to be spent resting.
But…
now I write.
And writing has started to soothe me.
The prompt asks what song lyric has stayed with me.
For me, it’s from A Sky Full of Stars.
“Cause you’re a sky full of stars.”
Years ago I was in a relationship where I’d constantly hear,
“You’re not romantic.”
“What’s wrong with you?”
Nothing was wrong with me.
I just didn’t understand romance the way she did.
Back then, while driving to Cerritos College, I’d play that song almost every morning.
There was a girl in one of my classes I had a crush on.
Nothing ever came of it.
But the song stayed.
Looking back…
I don’t think that lyric is really about romance.
I think it’s about appreciation.
About looking at another person and realizing…
out of everyone they could’ve chosen…
they chose you.
How cool is that?
Of course…
sometimes people choose to leave too.
That’s part of life.
But while they’re there…
don’t worry so much about being romantic.
Be appreciative.
Have a good time.
Enjoy the person who’s sitting beside you.
Enjoy your day.
