“The Soundtrack”

Daily writing prompt
Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

July 13, 2026 – 8:29 a.m.

Morning to all.

And even morning to the day that isn’t tangible…

The one with no name.

I’m not tired today.

So…

Let’s begin.

I grew up in the ’80s and ’90s.

The piece of technology I remember loving most was my yellow Sony Walkman.

It was awesome.

I’d listen to sports radio while eating a cheeseburger at a little burger spot in Old Town Pasadena.

Howard Stern early in the morning.

The Top 10 songs on the radio.

And every now and then…

A cassette.

I never owned the big headphones.

I just used the little ones that came with the Walkman.

That was enough.

Sometimes I’d be riding the bus.

Sometimes I’d be walking through downtown Los Angeles.

And somewhere in my imagination…

It felt like I was listening to the soundtrack of my own life.

Coffee done.

This brew is for you.

Question

What’s one piece of old technology that reminds you of a chapter of your life rather than the device itself?
