“He changed… and it changed how I see people”

Daily writing prompt
Who are some underrated people in history?

8:19 in the morning.

Eyes still heavy.

Coffee in my hand.

Cat in the window.

Silence.

Underrated people in history?

One name comes to mind.

Malcolm X.

I didn’t know much about him.

Until I watched the film.

What stayed with me wasn’t a perfect man.

It was a man who changed.

He had a past.

Made mistakes.

Lived hard.

And then he turned.

Discipline.
Focus.
Purpose.

That kind of change is rare.

But the moment that stayed with me most…

was later in his life.

When he traveled for pilgrimage to Mecca.

For the first time, he was surrounded by people of different races…

praying together.

Living together.

And it shifted something in him.

He started to see beyond labels.

Not just Black.
Not just white.

Human.

That hit me.

Because maybe we spend too much time arguing over labels…

and not enough time recognizing what’s underneath them.

We all deal with pain.
Bills.
Family.
Hope.

That part doesn’t change.

And seeing someone go through that shift…

made me question how I see people too.

Has there ever been someone who changed your perspective… just by how they lived their life?
