 “I don’t have a big list”

Daily writing prompt
List the people you admire and look to for advice…

9:29 a.m.

Hot coffee.

Simba in the window.

Still recovering from taking him to the vet yesterday.

I don’t have a big list of people I go to for advice.

It’s really just my mom.

She listens.

She tries to understand me.

She encourages me.

That’s the part that stayed with me.

I’m not always easy to talk to.

I’ve learned that.

Sometimes I need to just…

shut the fuck up and listen.

She never told me that directly.

She just says:

“You’ve gotten yourself out of things before.
Don’t beat yourself up.
Things take time.”

And that’s enough.

Outside of her…

I’ve listened to a lot of people.

Kobe.
Tyson.
Rogan.
Jobs.

Even random people online talking about their lives.

Not to become rich.

Just to understand…

how they got themselves out of their own mess.

And what I learned from all of that is simple.

Ask yourself what you want.

Answer it.

Then act on it.

If it’s wrong…

adjust.

And keep going.

Who’s one person that actually helps you… not by talking a lot, but by being real with you?
