“I don’t really use social media… I watch it”

Daily writing prompt
How do you use social media?

It’s 8:30 in the morning.

I’m tired.

Been hauling plastic and paper bags all over L.A.

So… how do I use social media?

Honestly?

I don’t think I use it well.

I consume it more than anything.

I’ve tried.

Instagram.

X.

But a lot of it just feels like noise.

Spam.

People selling something.

People trying to pull your attention somewhere.

I used to scroll for different reasons.

Looking at girls.

Wasting time.

Now I don’t really want that anymore.

So I look for different things.

Art.

Family moments.

Funny clips.

Sometimes street fights.

But even that has changed.

I try not to compare anymore.

I did that before.

Looking at people’s lives and thinking:

“My life sucks.”

Now I understand something.

Social media isn’t real life.

It’s highlights.

People show what they want you to see.

And once I saw that…

I stopped taking it so seriously.
