I’ve been stressed most of my adult life.
Like most people.
That’s just part of it.
So how do I unwind?
Sometimes it’s simple.
A movie.
A video game.
Something easy.
Something that lets me step out of the day.
But that’s not the part that really works.
The part that works is different.
Early in the morning…
before the sun comes out…
I sit in my chair.
Feet up on the futon.
Lights at 10%.
Coffee I just grinded.
And silence.
Sometimes even in complete darkness.
No noise.
No talking.
No distractions.
Just me…
and whatever is left in my head.
That’s when it happens.
The noise slows down.
The thoughts stop running.
And for a moment…
everything feels still.
I don’t think I unwind.
I think I just…
go quiet.
