For a long time, I always said yes.
Mostly to family — my father, my sister, my mother.
And a lot of the time, that yes interfered with my own goals. I wanted to please people. I wanted to be helpful. I wanted to avoid conflict.
But recently, I’ve been learning to say no.
Not in a cruel way. Just in an honest way.
Because not everything is important enough for me to stop what I’m doing. Sometimes people need to hear no. Sometimes I need to protect my time, my focus, and the direction I’m trying to build.
I’m still learning it.
But I’m learning that saying no isn’t always rejection.
Sometimes it’s self-respect.
