“When I’m Quiet, I’m Fighting Storms”

Daily writing prompt
If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

Last year I had a dog who passed away. I had her since 2006. Her name was Goldie. She was a golden-colored, beautiful little dog—half Tibetan Spaniel, half Cocker Spaniel. I’ve been depressed for a long time, and she was always around. When she took her last breath, it hit me hard.

Now I’m left with my cat, Simba. He’s an orange little cat, and I take care of him a lot.

If I could make my pet understand one thing, it would be this:

Sometimes when I’m quiet or stressed, it’s not because I don’t love you. It’s because I’m fighting my own storms. I’m doing my best to keep going, even on days when my energy feels low.

So if I seem distant sometimes—just know I’m still here. And you help more than you know.

Question: If your pet could understand one sentence from you, what would it be?
