I’ve never been a leader, so this is my theory: a good leader leads themselves first.
They lead themselves out of dependency—out of chasing other people’s opinions and validation—and into action. They prove to themselves that they’re more than the negative voice in their head, that faucet-drip voice that keeps echoing: you’re not enough… you can’t do this… you’re going to fail.
Because how can you lead others if you can’t lead yourself out of your own storm?
A good leader understands they will fail. They understand life is hard. They understand nobody might believe in them. But they also understand something else: putting in the work matters even when success isn’t guaranteed—because work proves one thing.
They won’t give up. They won’t surrender.
They walk right into the storm and say: Yeah, I might lose… but I’m going to work really, really hard anyway.
Question: What’s one area of your life you need to lead yourself in first?
