“Horror feels like a warm blanket”

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

Cat to my right, eating.

My eyes are tired.

A little watery.

Coffee in my hand.

Light coming through the window.

Sky almost white.

Feels like it’s about to rain.

And for some reason…

I’m thinking about Halloween.

It’s always been my favorite.

Since I was a kid.

Vampires.
Werewolves.
Things that come out once a year.

Día de los Muertos.

A way to remember the dead.

And movies.

Freddy Krueger.
Nightmare on Elm Street.

People see horror and think fear.

I don’t.

It comforts me.

It’s like a warm blanket from my childhood.

Something familiar.

Something that never changed.

Even now.
