If I Didn’t Need Sleep, I’d Bend the Knee

Daily writing prompt
If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?

If I didn’t need sleep?

I’d walk to church.

Not for Mass —

but to kneel.

To bend the knee and say:

“Thank you.

You’ve given me much.

I’ve complained much.

I live because of You.”

Then I’d walk back home

and not complain about a damn thing.

I’d work out.

I’d draw.

I’d read.

I’d write.

And before the day closes,

I’d bend the knee again:

“Thank you, Lord.”
