“September 11, 2001”

What major historical events do you remember?

Back in 2001, I was working as an usher at Dodger Stadium.

One morning, I took a quick nap — just a few minutes to rest my eyes — and when I woke up, the world was changing on the TV in front of me.

I saw a building collapsing in New York.

Half asleep, I thought it was a movie — something from an action film or a new trailer.

Then I saw the second one fall.

And that’s when I realized… this wasn’t a movie. It was happening live.

The World Trade Center.

September 11, 2001.

That day froze something inside all of us.

A few weeks later, I was back at Dodger Stadium for the first game since the attacks.

And man — the air was different.

When the National Anthem started, nobody sat. Nobody scrolled their phone.

Every single person — from the beer vendors to the fans in the cheap seats — stood with tears in their eyes.

For once, there was no division. No left, no right.

Just people — hurt, scared, but united.

You could feel it. The electricity. The love.

The United States — for a moment — truly lived up to its name.
