šŸ“» The Voice Is Still There

Daily writing prompt
How do you deal with uncertainty?

August 8, 2026 — 8:23 a.m.

Woken by a cat named Simba…

Orange furball.

Meow, meow…feed me, motherfucker.

6 a.m. without miss.

How does he know the time without knowing the time?

Mysteries of the universe…

So I fed him and went back to bed.

I woke up about 40 minutes ago. Still a bit sleepy…but I slept the whole night like a rock.

ā€œRoberto, your A/C dripped water when you turned it on…it made a weird noise. Be careful because it can make false contact and start a fire.ā€

That was my father this morning.

Growing up, I was locked in my thoughts of insecurity…

You’re too short.

Your hair stands up too much at the top of your head.

You mumble too much when you get nervous.

You’re not smart enough to carry conversations with big words.

Constant talking in my head about nothing that could help me take action.

Thoughts unmanaged.

Thoughts cannot change just by thinking positive.

At least not with me.

I tried.

Stand in front of the mirror…

You can do this.

You are smart.

Blah, blah…

Going back to school in 2016, I learned that I wasn’t bad at school because I couldn’t learn.

I wasn’t good at school because I didn’t stay engaged.

Why not?

Well…

The subject is boring.

It’s being presented too academically.

Or…

I don’t get it.

So I began by answering those questions and then taking action.

I started reading the books for class on my own and taking notes. Then doing my own research online.

Going to office hours with professors with my own questions from their notes and what I had read…

and having them break it down for me a bit more.

Eventually, that led to straight A’s at CSULB for a couple of semesters straight.

So now I keep using a similar method…

Problem.

Research it.

Answer the question.

Begin to apply action.

Modify as I go.

And the voice…

the inner voice…

I listen to it still.

But I’ve learned to unattach from it.

I want to experience life, not experience thinking about it.

So uncertainty is there.

But so is anger.

Fear.

Etc.

And none of those have to get in the way of me enjoying a movie…

or laughing at myself for tripping while merely walking.

That’s all I got today.

Morning, everyone.

Enjoy your day.

šŸ’ Reader Question

What thought keeps showing up in your head—and what changed when you stopped treating it like an instruction?

šŸš€ Stay in the Garage

When I write something new—or finish a drawing, a Street Cinema piece, or a Hood Chronicle—I’ll send it your way.

There’s no schedule.

You’ll just hear from me whenever something is ready to leave the garage.
