“šŸ„‰ The Lineage I Came From”

Daily writing prompt
Do you think everything happens for a reason?

July 21, 2026 – 8:40 a.m.

It is a sunny morning.

Sunny side up.

Growing up, I always had a fear that nothing could work out.

Maybe…

part of me still believes that.

I come from a lineage of pessimism.

Or what my family would call…

ā€œreality.ā€

Failure always felt inevitable.

So…

why try?

I’ll get to life later.

Let me just watch television.

Saving money always felt impossible.

Not because I couldn’t.

Because I never really believed I could.

So I stayed with what felt safest.

Working valet.

Being an usher at Dodger Stadium.

Working at a call center.

I never really tried to improve my finances beyond what was familiar.

Then one day…

I created a bucket system.

I’m not rich.

But over the last two years I’ve managed to save more than $10,000.

That changed something.

It made me realize that maybe life doesn’t simply happen to us.

Just because I come from a lineage like mine…

doesn’t mean I have to keep saying yes to it.

Life will unfold the way it’s going to unfold.

But if I never make a decision…

I’m simply drifting with it.

Maybe…

life gives us just enough administrative control to steer the ship a little.

Every decision compounds over time.

Well…

I’m not the smartest.

But…

I’m about to drink my cup of coffee.

Have a beautiful day, world.

Question for the Reader

Has there ever been a belief you inherited that you eventually decided to question?
