I don’t know if there’s one specific phase I had to say goodbye to… but thinking about it now, yeah—there is.
I had to say goodbye to being oblivious to life just because I was young.
Back then you could call it “dumb mistakes of youth.” Now in my 40s, I can’t hide behind that. I can’t say that anymore—because now I’m intentional with what I do.
And the difference is this: if I miss a day, I feel it — because the bill shows up later.
Not saying I won’t make mistakes. I will.
But mistakes aren’t “I’m a fuck up” anymore.
Mistakes are data. They show more of the pattern I need to succeed.
So yeah… goodbye to being oblivious.
Reader question: What phase of life did you have to say goodbye to — and what replaced it?
