“I Don’t Think About Living Long — I Think About Living Today”

Daily writing prompt
What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

The concept of living very long… I don’t really have a concept of living very long.

I have a concept of living right now. LOL.

Planning forward isn’t a bad idea, but the moment you open your eyeballs in the morning, you’re already living. You’re already dealing with your mind. You start realizing: why am I stressed? What is stressing me? What’s making me happy? What do I need more of today?

So instead of only applying things for the long term, I try to apply things for the day. If you build some structure and discipline, you can take advantage of a day and do multiple things that eventually add up to big things.

Then your future self can look back and say, damn… I did more than I thought I could.

And I think that’s the happiness part of it: if you don’t take the day for granted, the future version of you is grateful.

That’s my concept.

What do I know? I just sell plastic bags all throughout South Central.

Question: Do you think more about living longer… or living better today?
