As incredible as it is — and it is incredible — I think I’d be better off without it.
Not because it’s evil, but because it’s too good at stealing time.
You tell yourself, “I’ll watch for ten minutes,”
and suddenly three hours disappear.
Sometimes four. Sometimes the whole night.
It distracts.
It isolates.
It makes silence feel optional when silence is actually where the real thinking happens.
I’ve wondered what life used to feel like before TV existed.
When the house was quieter.
When people talked more.
When you had to read to learn anything.
When boredom wasn’t the enemy — it was part of being human.
Maybe that world wasn’t better…
but I think it made people pay attention more.
And attention is worth something now.
