Sitting under the cool shade of a tree near Crenshaw… it’s been so hot.

Decided to take a break.

Slow day.

Selling bags in LA can burn you out.

Sometimes literally — when it’s in the 90s.

Lately I’ve been asking myself: why am I even writing?

I’m not a traditional writer. I never aspired to be one.

I always thought writing was for people with an incredible grasp of language and grammar.

I’m an illustrator who doesn’t illustrate enough.

Procrastination, some would say.

Originally, I started writing just to get past depression.

But it’s slowly become something else.

I was never a great student.

I hated English class — it felt too restrictive, too full of rules.

Rules of engagement.

But the truth is, writing can be fun.

And I’m learning, slowly, to do it my way.

I’m amazed anyone even reads what I’ve written.

I think I was robbed.

Robbed of seeing writing for what it really is:

an expression tool.

a re-programming tool.

and most importantly — a creative tool.
